Sunil Shetty and writer-director Mahesh Manjrekar team up for the first time in Time Movies' EHSAAS (A FEELING), which is produced by Pravin Shah, maker of successful films such as KURUKSHETRA and JODI NO. 1.

EHSAAS deals with the father-son relationship. "Normally, a growing child always feels that he is not permitted to do what he likes. It is due to this reason that the father-son relationship gets strained. EHSAAS is all about this," he adds.

Sunil Shetty plays the father and Master Mayank Tandon the son. "The aim of the film is to make the parents understand the mindset of the children and at the same time, make children aware of their responsibilities," the successful producer reveals.

Director Mahesh Manjrekar sheds more light on the plot of the film: "The father has great expectations from his child, whereas the child expects something totally different from the father. It's about the clashes between the feelings of an innocent child and a responsible father."
"I wrote this story during the days of my struggle. When I was a kid, I had this feeling that my father couldn't understand my feelings and emotions. Now when I am a father, I realise that my father was never wrong, but at the same time my feelings were justified as well. This complex issue gave birth to EHSAAS."

An extensive part of the film has been shot in Goa. "Oh, that's because I enjoy shooting on seashores," Manjrekar tells me, continuing in the same context, "In the film, Sunil's family backdrop is Goa, so it was obvious that we had to film the portions in Goa. But we have shot at other locales as well. For a race during the climax of the film, we shot at the Shivaji Stadium in Pune. A 25,000-strong crowd, mainly students in uniforms, were brought in to give the climax a real look."

What exactly made Manjrekar cast Sunil Shetty in the central role? "I wanted someone who could do justice to the role of a father. At the same time, Sunil has matured as a performer over the years. He can handle any role with ease," the director states.

"One doesn't get to do such films everyday," Sunil Shetty reveals, "It was a challenge to play the part of a dominating father who fosters a 10-year-old motherless boy. I learnt a lot during the making of this film and that will help me in real life as a father."

Neha plays Sunil's neighbour in the film. "Sunil's 10-year-old son is close to me; he shares his joys and sorrows all the while. He is a motherless kid who is dictated by a dominating father. The child feels left out in the bargain. During the process of mediation between the father and kid, I get involved with Sunil," Neha divulges.

EHSAAS has story-screenplay-direction by Mahesh Manjrekar, dialogues by Dilip Kulkarni, cinematography by Vijay (JUNGLE, TUM BIN) Arora, editing by V.N. Mayekar, art direction by Nitin Desai, action by Mahendra Verma, choreography by Chinni Prakash and Remo and music by Anand Raaj Anand, Milind Sagar and Prajwal Anand.

The film stars Sunil Shetty, Neha, Kiron Kher, Sanjay Narvekar and Master Mayank Tandon. Mahesh Manjrekar, Shivaji Satam and Shakti Kapoor make special appearances in the film, while music director Anand Raaj Anand and singer Sunidhi Chauhan make guest appearances.
